“I was very happy with the treatment I received. I loved receiving the exercises by email. It was nice to have as a reminder to do them as well as how to do them. I was also happy with explanations provided for what was causing the pain.

How does a sports psychology session look like?
When you come for this session at Momentum Spine and Sports Physiotherapy Clinic, your therapist will begin with a discussion session to fully understand your targeted goals. You will be asked to describe areas you wish to improve and activities you plan to use to achieve those goals. Once your therapist has a deeper understanding of your current situation and projected goal, they will collaborate with you to design achievable short, medium, and long-term goals and steps to take to achieve them.
Factors such as feelings, emotions, situations, and experiences that may be hindering you from achieving your targeted goals will be disempowered and manageable effectively using specially designed strategies.
Your therapist will identify your negative core beliefs, thinking traps, thought patterns, and other negative elements that might affect your overall outcome. When these have been identified, a specialized session that includes motivational building, mindfulness, self-talk, positive psychology, breathing techniques, mediation, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), visualization, and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) will be used to build and achieve your set goals.
Why is sports psychology important?
As an athlete or someone who wants to improve their overall performance, it will be challenging to achieve your maximum potential if you are not in the best mental state. But by connecting your feelings, thoughts, and actions with your body and mind to attain a state of flow (positive psychology), you can be able to achieve your targeted goals.
When an athlete can attain a state of flow, that’s a perfect balance between energy, anxiety, boredom, failure, and success, they can have a clear goal with the drive and confidence of achieving them. Our sports psychologist can help them find the flow they need.
Working with a sports psychologist will help and teach you how to achieve a state of flow and manage every challenging situation that might be a setback to your goal.
